Hello MOCV! I wanted to reach out to this community and ask if you have experience leaving an emotional/verbally abusive marriage where you have children. I’d love to get some ideas on where to start. I’m in therapy, so are my kiddos, and trying to work on a plan, but it feels so scary and daunting. I’d love to know some personal experiences. This is such a stressful time in my life and while I feel I have a good support network, I feel stuck when it comes to how to proceed. Any advice I can get from those who have been in similar situations would be so appreciated.

So I received some pretty upsetting news last night. A neighbor came to me and told me that someone who lives behind us is a pedophile on probation. Supposedly a neighbor cop of hers told her to watch out for him and a local child said he was watching kids swimming through their fence. She’s letting people with kids know which I appreciate very much but now what do I do? We’ve been swimming everyday and we share a fence. This house has been a magnet for trouble for years and years. Cops are always there. I looked on Megan’s Law website but nothing came up. Can I call the police department for information? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Our apartment manager demeans the tenants every chance she gets. Any time there is any visitor on the property, she asks them who their visiting, for how long, which vehicle is theirs. She wants to put cameras all over the property (which I suppose might make it a little safer) but we also have an abnormally excessive amount of inspections. I've had 5 inspections in a matter of two months. They stress me out, because I'm at work and the apartment manager goes through our closets and personal items.
I have nothing to hide, and my apartment is super clean, but I have diagnosed PTSD and anxiety, and having someone go through my personal items while I'm at work stresses me out to the point of wanting to quit my job so I can stay home. The apartment manager is friends with her manager, so there is little to no recourse when our privacy is violated.
Any advice? I really am truly grateful to have affordable housing, but I can't function at work when I know she's in my apartment so frequently.

You have noticed a growing distance between you are your spouse and as you age, intimacy (not just the sexual part of intimacy) is less and less frequent. Noticing the distance and change, you start to get curious as to what is going on. One night you wake in the middle of the night and hear your husband in his office and he is obviously listening to porn. You let it go, because hey, it’s a guy thing. Well, as months go by, you become increasingly concerned and check his browser history on the computer he was on that late night...what you find is alarming. Days upon days of different porn sites, some webcam subscription sites, and just lots and lots of porn. Is this an affair? Has trust been broken? What do you do?

I've been in a custody nightmare for years now, with an increasingly unstable and disturbed ex-partner. It is affecting my child's well-being, who does not want to go to the father's house and comes home emotional and acts out. At the time of our original custody hearing, my ex (who has money) hired a private attorney, and was able to get more custody than I wanted; I did not get to present any of my evidence or character witnesses, etc.
I am on a limited income but have family who will help if possible for attorney fees - but I have absolutely no idea what to expect cost wise and how it works - is there a flat fee? A retainer? Hourly? Any custody lawyer recommendations in our area?
