Restaurant Review

Just a girl who loves to eat. Who turned into a mom. Who loves to eat and wants to share the goodness with everyone!

Zin Bistro Americana

Love! Love! Love, Zin on the lake. Zin is located on Westlake off Lindero Canyon. It’s the perfect place for a date night, girls night out or special event!
We started with the oysters, which I didn’t eat (sorry, ewww! But my friends said they were good!). I had a key lime martini which was AMAZING, so refreshing! For dinner we had the short ribs, because when there is short ribs on the menu, you get them! The chicken fried lobster caught my eye, and I’m glad it did! It was buttery & crispy, creamy- so good! Zin is a great option when you’re in the mood for great food, live music and terrific drinks on Westlake.

Hatch Cafe & Market

We are hooked!
This cute little cafe not only has some of the best food in the CV but the Market area is amazing, the aprons may just be our favorite piece! Well, the chocolate too of course!
If you have a birthday coming up, anniversary, or a special occasion check out the personalized gift boxes!
But let’s talk food...
The Fried Chicken Sandwhich just may be the best in the entire Valley! The ponzu sauce and cucumber sandwich may make you want to order two!
Then they have a tuna that is to die for! The balsamic gives it an extra kick!
Oh, and our FAVORITE item
is the Avocado Toast, the radishes though! You may find us there weekly sitting on the big comfy chair!

Avoholic

Picture
If you follow our me over on my IG private account, MOMMAonFIRE, you know I eat avocado toast daily. Every. Single. Day.
I’m addicte, and avoholic. My favorite way to make it at home is, Smashed Avocado seasoned with salt, crumbled bacon, sunflower seeds, balsamic glaze, everything bagel seasoning, balsamic glaze and goat cheese.
It’s has all the flavors I need, sweet, salty, creamy and tangy. Put it on some buttery brioche bread and you’re set.
But I do love all different kinds & when I’m not making it, its tastes better because I don’t have to do the dishes!
Here is some of our favorite places to pop in for some toast!
Five 07 It’s one of our new favorites! We LOVE their toast, its simply and fills you up! We like to add goat cheese underneath the avocado!
The big comfy chairs are our favorite. We have a weekly meeting and love to head over to Five 07 for a comfy seat to plan!
Beanovino definitely filled us up! The hard boiled eggs made it a meal & the seasoning was perfect. While we were in we noticed they have a ton of activities, pop by and check it out!
Leg Pain Quotidien Westlakes toast is so fresh! This one has lots of crunchy toppings!
Raggamuffin Coffee- If you’re looking for something other than avo toast, the PB and Granola Toast is where its at! Creamy, Crunchy and creamy!
The best seat in the house! At Hatch Cafe and Market.
Did we mention that not only does Ragamuffin have a delish avo toast, but they have THE best specialty coffee, Lavender Latte!
Pit fire in Westlake is one of our top favorite restaurants. I didn’t think I’d like to corn on top, but boy was I wrong.... It was SO good! So sweet and crunchy, what a great flavor combo!
Back at Ragamuffin planning our lives.

Taverna Tony

Picture
Step out of the Conejo Valley & into this lively Greek Restaurant that makes you feel like you stepped into the Mediterranean.

With live Greek music, belly dancers and a lively crowd Taverna Tony’s feeds your belly and soul!

Don’t skip:

The Flaming Cheese & Grilled Calamari! We may have ordered two flaming cheeses, it’s just so good!

For Dinner:
The Filet is cooked perfectly and served up with crispy fries!

The Chilean Sea Bass will leave you satisfied with so much flavor!

Dessert:
Get it all!
The Baklava is always a good choice, but the Greek Yogurt may be our favorite, and we didn’t expect that!

Taverna Tony is such a fun restaurant for a date night or dinner with friends! The menu has something for everyone with lots of vegetarian options!

Slate Bistro & Craft Bar

Picture
A Hidden Gem! Don’t pass up Slate if you get the chance to have dinner at this delish restaurant, DO IT!
Just off the 101 at Pleasant Valley, this stylish restaurant has something to make everyone’s taste buds “zing!”
Not only did we love the food, but the turquoise booths were super comfy! The soft colors and low lights were perfect for a date night!
Towards the back of the hotel there is a lovely bar area with some bench seating! It would be perfect for a birthday cocktail party!

What we had:
Drink: Blacker the Berry
flor de cana rum, blackberries, lemongrass syrup, lime, egg white
—-yum! This was SO good! The egg white on top definitely added some interested foam!
The Baked Brie
soft-ripened and creamy cheese, apricot compote, brûlée crisp, rosemary, fresh bread
—- I’m a sucker for Brie! The creamy mixed with the apricot! Holy goodness! I’ll take one for me!!
Monkey Bread
Rosemary Monkey Bread with Marinara Sauce
—- This item is seasonal and changes! I loved this one, the marinara was SO good!
California Pizza
prosciutto, charred pineapple, fresh jalapeno
Don’t just skim past the pizzas, they are worth it. The prosciutto in this one was my favorite!
Grilled filet mignon 8oz
blue cheese mornay sauce, cabernet demi, mashed potato, roasted brussels and bacon
—-all of it! The sauces, the steak, the Brussels Sprouts! This one is for sure on my top 5 in Ventura County! We shared this meal and added a Lobster Tail. It was plenty for us!

Dessert!
I always save room for dessert!
Calling all my GF friends, this ones for you!
MEXICAN MOLTEN CHOCOLATE CAKE cinnamon ice cream, churros crumble
——seriously, give me a bowl of those churro crumbles! They are like little crumbles of heaven!

Tabu Shabu

Tabu Shabu is one of our FAVORITE fancy dinners! The food is always SO fresh, I feel like I'm eating healthy but a cheat meal at the same time! They have an adorable patio AND its great for a "special" night at home too! Our kids arent quite old enough to sit on the patio and eat this one so we bring it home for a special dinner at home.
Visit Tabu Shabu's Facebook Page
See how we ate it at home!
